I'm Carl Birkenshaw. I've spent 39 years inside the UK home improvement industry — not watching from the sidelines, but running sales teams, building companies, closing deals and getting things done at every level.
I was a director at Pennine Home Improvements for four years before selling my shares. Eight years later, a long-time friend who'd bought the business asked me to come back. I came back because standards mattered — and because I'd found a better way to build.
Somewhere along the way I became a builder of digital tools. Not because I studied software — but because I could see problems that needed solving and I'd learned to use modern AI tools to solve them fast.
I'm also a Freemason, a Deputy Communications Officer for the Province of Northumberland, and a published musician. The through-line across all of it is the same: see a problem clearly, then do something about it.
Carl is an active Freemason and member of Oriental Lodge No. 9371 at Byker Freemasons Centre, Newcastle upon Tyne. He serves as Deputy Communications Officer for the Province of Northumberland and holds a Mentor role within his lodge.
Every tool Carl builds for Freemasonry is free — always. No subscriptions, no charges, no commercial angle. These are his contribution to an organisation that has given him much.
His work has been publicly credited on northumberlandmasons.org.uk and he leads digital modernisation across the Province.
Warm roof extension, CQC registration, trade sales consultancy, or anything else — the best thing is a conversation. Carl answers personally.
